IRS furlough day for Aug. 30 canceled
In a small bit of relief for already sequestration-weary IRS employees, the agency has announced that it's canceling its planned furlough day for Aug. 30.
The agency had been planning what would have been its fifth day of complete shutdown since late May for the end of this month, but citing "substantial progress in cutting costs," they've axed the planned furlough.
IRS employees have already taken unpaid days off on May 24, July 14 and July 5. A fourth furlough day, scheduled for July 22, was also ultimately canceled.
