Maryland kicks off tax-free holiday

Decrease Increase Text size

Starting Sunday, shoppers in Maryland can get a break on the state's 6 percent sales tax on clothing and shoes priced under $100.

Unlike Virginia, school supplies are not tax exempt.

Among the long list of items you can buy tax-free are pajamas, diapers, school uniforms, gym clothes, bras, bathing suits, wedding gowns, underwear, shoes and scout uniforms. Dry cleaning services are also tax exempt this week.

The state's annual tax holiday ends Aug. 17.
