Metro to plant shrubs at Dupont Metro Station
WMATA plans to beautify the Dupont Circle Metro station by planting shrubs despite nixing attempts by the “Phanton Planter” who planted flowers at the station.
DCist reports that a Metro representative announced Tuesday night at an ANC meeting in Dupont Circle that WMATA will rehabilitate the station by planting Pachysandra and repairing some pavement.
If this sounds somewhat familiar, it’s because Henry Docter, also known as the Phantom Planter, tried to plant flowers at the station. Metro, however, barred him from planting flowers, citing safety reasons. It also tore up his flowers and threatened him with arrest.
