Pennsylvania police officer carries german shepherd to safety after crash
A police officer in central Pennsylvania is getting a ton of well-deserved kudos after he rescued a dog that ran away from a car accident.
The crash happened last week in Palmyra, Penn., about four miles northeast of Hershey, after which two dogs ran away in fright.
According to WHTM in Harrisburg, South Londonderry Police Officer Nick Ague heard a call on his radio that authorities were on the lookout for Mya, the large german shepherd that ran away from the accident.
He spotted Mya a short time later and ran after her in a field, but she wouldn't come to him. So, instead, Ague picked Mya up and carried her "a long distance" back to her owners.
It was much needed, WHTM reports, since after running for two miles, the skin was basically hanging off of Mya's paws.
She was just relaxed and a big difference from the look on her face when I went out into the field and actually picked her up," Officer Ague said.
