Prince William describes his joy at parenthood

He may be the future king of England, but Prince William sounded like any new father.

Williams spoke for the first time, since his son George was born three weeks ago, describing that overwhelming moment, when he and the Dutchess introduced their new son to the world.

“I think more shock and daunting-ness was the feeling I felt but...I think I was on such a high anyways, so was Catherine, about George,” he says. “Really, we were happy to show him off to whoever wanted to see him. Any new parent knows you're happy to show off your new child and proclaim he's the best looking or the best at everything.”

He spoke candidly about the simple yet stressful tasks any new dad face, like placing the child safety seat in the car - except he did it, with the world watching.

"Believe me. It wasn't my first time,” he says. “I know there's been speculation about that. I had to practice I really did. The fact that it was going to fall off or the door wasn't going to close properly. I had actually practiced with that seat but only once before.”

The Prince says his new son is a bit of a fighter, enjoys getting his diaper, or nappy as he called it, changed and Prince George has been having difficulty sleeping.

“Well, as a few fathers might know, I'm actually quite looking forward to going back to work,” he says, adding that he’s also looking forward to getting some sleep.
