Wes Brown suspended for entire season, ESPN reports
After running back Wes Brown's arrest last Wednesday for second-degree assault on an officer, misdemeanor theft and illegal use of wiretapping, he has been suspended for the entire season, ESPN reports. The University of Maryland will not allow Brown to participate with the football team this upcoming season.
“We support the University of Maryland’s decision,” Head Coach Randy Edsall said in a statement. “I have spoken with Wes. He accepts the sanctions and understands what is expected of him moving forward.”
According to ESPN, the school made the announcement on Friday, even though prosecturs announced several days ago that they would drop the charges.
Jason Shapiro is Brown's attorney, and told the Washington Post:
"He has accepted full responsibility for any of his actions, despite the fact that, as the state's attorney's office states, his actions were predicated upon an attempted unlawful arrest. He is still accepting the university's punishment regarding his behavior."
