295 lanes closed during rush hour in September, October
Construction along 295 in both directions may impact your commute for the next eight weeks.
Crews will be doing work as part of the 11th Street bridge project. Both north and south bound lanes of 295 - the Anacostia Freeway - will be affected. Expect periodic closures between Suitland Parkway and Pennsylvania Avenue SE.
DDOT says the right lane will be closed today, September 4 through 5am tomorrow, September 5 in both directions. Avoid the area during peak hours if possible. After that the right shoulders will stay continuously closed.
DDOT expects workers to block lanes during the morning and evening rush hour for the next eight weeks. Motorist are encouraged to find alternates.
The work will allow crews to install new overhead signs, weather permitting.
On Saturday Sept. 7, DDOT will be celebrating the new 11th Street Bridge with a commencement and an full opening of the bridge to traffic, bicyclist and pedestrians.
