SUV driver injured in Charles County school bus accident

(WJLA) - A Charles County school bus crashed into an SUV early Wednesday morning, causing serious injuries to the vehicle's driver, officials say.

The crash happened at about 7:50 a.m. on Davis Road in Waldorf, Charles County Sheriff's officials say, as the bus was making its way to North Point High School.

Authorities believe that the 47-year-old driver of a Cadillac Escalade hit a curb heading in the opposite direction of the bus hit a curb, swerved and ran head-on into the school bus.

Of the 36 students and a driver on board the bus, several were treated for minor injures; some of them were treated at the scene while others were taken to a nearby hospital as a precautionary measure.

The driver of the Cadillac was airlifted to a Prince George's County trauma center for treatment of serious bot non life-threatening injuries.
