FAA likely to revise electronics rules
A Federal Aviation Administration panel is nearing completion on a new set of regulations that will change which electronics airline passengers are allowed and not allowed to use during flights.
According to a report in Monday's New York Times, the new regulations will allow passengers to read e-books or other publications, listen to podcasts, and watch videos. The ban on making phone calls and sending and receiving emails and text messages will remain in effect with the new regulations.
The Times report said the panel will deliver its recommendations to the FAA at the end of the month. The new regulations would go into effect early next year.
