Federal job cuts could reach 100,000 next year, report says
Upwards of 100,000 federal jobs will likely be eliminated over the next year due to sequestration budget cuts, according to Federal Times.
A report commissioned by Goldman Sachs indicates that federal agencies have already shed 71,000 over the last year and is on track to lose even more next year as long as budget cuts stay in place.
The numbers will likely jump next year, Federal Times says, because agencies will be forced to eliminate permanent jobs, rather than part-time and seasonal positions.
