(WJLA) - A Frederick man was indicted Friday in the murder of a 61-year-old grandmother that stunned the apartment complex where both the victim and suspect lived.

Gloria Fitzpatrick, who was known to her neighbors and friends as Carol, was found dead April 23 inside her apartment in Frederick.

Antwine Dwayne Snowden, 51, has been held without bond since he was arrested July 31 in connection with her death.

Snowden, who lived below Fitzpatrick at the Kingscrest Apartments complex, was indicted on one count each of first degree murder, second degree murder and robbery. He has been held without bond since he was arrested July 31.

Police used DNA evidence to link Snowden to the murder, officials say, after he initially lied to investigators about his whereabouts on the night of Fitzpatrick's slaying. He tried to flee from authorities when they came to arrest him as well.

Neighbors said in April after her death that Fitzpatrick was a kind woman who was widely loved by residents of the area.
