Government shutdown 2013: National Zoo's Panda Cam would go dark during shutdown

Decrease Increase Text size

If the government shuts down at Midnight Tuesday, the National Zoo, along with the rest of the Smithsonian museums, will not open for business Tuesday morning.

A government shutdown would close all vehicle, pedestrian and bicycle paths at the National Zoo. A shutdown would also force the zoo to stop broadcasting its live animal cameras, including the popular Giant Panda Cam.

All animals would continue to be fed and cared for by Zoo staff during a shutdown.
