Fairfax County Fire officials say the home in the 1000 block of Leigh Mill Road went up in flames just after 2 a.m. Sunday, with the fire quickly reaching a second alarm.

It took nearly an hour and a half and the damming of a local creek to get enough water on the fire to get it under control, fire officials say. The enormous home, valued at $1.2 million, is completely destroyed, while a pool house and a guest home on the property didn't suffer any damage.

A contractor who had been renovating the home who was sleeping in the guest house when the fire broke out was not injured.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
