Nine people, including seven students, were taken to a Montgomery County hospital Thursday after being sickened by a strong odor in Magruder High School in Rockville.
An investigation revealed a blocked sewer trap caused the smell of gas, officials with Washington Gas say.
The school was evacuated shortly before 2 p.m.
The Montgomery County Fire Department responded to the school around 6:30 a.m. for reports of a gas odor inside the school. No hazardous materials were found at the scene and students and staff were allowed to reenter the building.
