Washington building heights to be discussed by National Capital Planning Commission

A federal panel plans to leave the building height restrictions in the District in place when it presents its findings to the National Capital Planning Commission Thursday.

The 1910 Height Act allows buildings to grow relative to the width of the street in front of them. Critics say the rules hurt development. Supporters say it preserves views of the capitol and national monuments.
