Towson cheerleaders suspended for hazing, face appeals hearing Friday
Towson University's cheerleading squad will appear at an appeals hearing on Friday in an attempt to get their suspension for alleged hazing overturned.
The Baltimore Sun reports that Towson's cheer squad was suspended en masse from campus last Thursday after an unspecified hazing incident.
Towson's cheerleaders are nationally recognized as one of the top squads in the nation, taking home a national championship in the all-girls category at last year's NCAA championship.
"Hazing in any form will not be tolerated at Towson University," Towson VP for Student Affairs Deb Moriarty said in a statement. "We hold high expectations for all of our students and their conduct as leaders, both on and off campus."
The Baltimore Sun says that a decision on the appeal is not expected immediately.
