Tumbledown Trails Golf Course criticized for Sept. 11 promotion
A golf course near Madison, Wisc. has apologized after running an advertisement for a special price on rounds of golf to commemorate the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.
The Tumbledown Trails Golf Course in Verona, Wisc. placed an ad in Monday's Wisconsin State Journal advertising a $9.11 special for Wednesday, which would get players 9 holes of golf with a cart.
A picture of the ad was originally posted to Twitter by Josh Orton:

Late Monday night, golf course employees posted an apology to their Facebook page, saying that they would donate the difference between their normal rate and their advertised special to the 9/11 Memorial fund.
"We hope that everyone will now see this as a positive as we really meant it to be," the Facebook post read. The page, though, was flooded with negative comments about the promotion.
That prompted another Facebook post about an hour later, saying that they were reevaluating whether or not the course would be open on Wednesday because of the backlash.
