USDA overpays farm subsidies by $15 million over last year
The Department of Agriculture racked up millions of dollars of overpayments in subsidies to farmers over the last year, the Washington Post reports.
The Post's Josh Hicks reports that a USDA inspector general's report indicates more than $20 million in overpayments, with three quarters of that going toward farmers under the Federal Crop Insurance Program.
The USDA defines an overpayment as one that is at least 50 percent higher than it should be.
