Michael Bailey arrested by Fredericksburg police after standoff
(WJLA) - A Fredericksburg man faces felony charges after engaging officers in a six-hour standoff.
Michael Allen Bailey, 50, was taken into custody around 2:20 a.m. Friday at the Commons apartment complex in the 2300 block of Cowan Boulevard in Fredericksburg.
Police say the armed standoff began just before 9 p.m. when officers responded to a shooting at the apartment complex.
During the first few hours of the standoff, police say Bailey fired several shots both inside and outside of his apartment. At one point, Bailey allegedly aimed his gun at a Fredericksburg police officer, who returned fire.
A 52-year-old victim was transported to Mary Washington Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. He was released Friday.
After surrendering to police, Bailey was transported to Mary Washington Hospital with minor injuries to his hands and face.
A stolen .22 caliber rifle was recovered from Bailey's apartment.
Bailey is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
