Chinese human rights activist Chen Guangcheng has found a new home in Washington, D.C., announcing Wednesday that Catholic University, along with two other institutions, will sponsor him.

According to a report in Thursday's Washington Post, Chen's partnership with Catholic University came on the heels of his disintegrating relationship with New York University, which initially facilitated his flight from China to the United States. Chen will hold a variety of positions as an adviser and fellow at Catholic University and his other sponsor institutions, the Witherspoon Institute and the Lantos Foundation for Human Rights and Justice.

At a press conference Wednesday, Chen said he would fight for "democratic freedoms in China" and work to expose the "indescribable brutality" of the nation's communist regime.
