Fairfax neighborhoods hit by Halloween decoration thefts

Halloween cheer turned sour overnight in the Fairfax neighborhoods of Middle Ridge and Kings Park West when people at 10 different homes walked outside to find many of their holiday decorations gone.

The thieves took Melody Rudy's 7-foot blow-up Frankenstein, along with a skull, some fake rats, and two very special wooden cut-outs of a pumpkin and a ghost.

"I was really upset because my father passed away two years ago and had hand made these cut-outs," Rudy says.

Two and a half miles away, five houses got hit on Stonington Drive,

The homeowners have all filed reports with Fairfax police, but so far they haven't caught anyone.

And despite the thefts, the families say they won't hesitate in putting up decorations when Christmas comes around.
