Both José Andrés and his wife Patricia are one step away from becoming American citizens, the Washington Post reports, more than two decades after moving here from Spain.

Andrés told the Post's Reliable Source blog that all they have left to do is be sworn in.

His restaurant portfolio in the D.C. area includes numerous wildly popular establishments, including Jaleo, Zaytinya, Oyamel and minibar. He's also the winner of numerous culinary awards, including Chef of the Year by Bon Appetit magazine in 2004.
