Kurt Paschke seen punching woman at Jets/Patriots game
(CNN/WCBS) - The mother of a man who was caught on video punching a woman at an NFL game in New Jersey over the weekend says that her son isn't to blame for the incident.
The video, which went viral, depicts 38-year-old Kurt Paschke getting into an altercation with a female fan at Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. during a game between the New York Jets and New England Patriots.
Donning a Jets jersey, Paschke can be seen pushing and shoving with the unidentified woman before landing a punch.
His mother, Colleen, says that the video doesn't tell the entire story.
"She punched my son three times to the head (and) cut his eyebrow," she said. "My son just turned around to defend himself. He was tired of being punched."
Paschke was initially told that no charges would be filed, but days later, New Jersey State Police say that an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Meanwhile, authorities are looking into his criminal history, which includes spending more than 2 years in prison in the 1990s for stabbing a teenager to death; a charge his mother says he was wrongfully convicted on.
"He was set up by a white supremacy group and he ended up taking the blame," Colleen claims.
