(WJLA) - At 2-4 but still in the thick of the NFC East early this season, the Washington Redskins seemingly have new life after their victory over the Chicago Bears.

Now, the defense is pushing forward with a Week 8 match-up with Peyton Manning and the high-powered Denver Broncos, who are coming off of their first loss of the 2013 season.

Defensive coordinator Jim Haslett knows that their top responsibility will be to, somehow, contain Manning, who leads the league by slinging 366 yards per game and 25 touchdowns.

"Peyton sees everything," Haslett said. "You think you're going to disguise something on him. He recognizes every coverage. You're not going to fool him."

Manning has shattered records, and defenses for that matter, left and right. He has thrown the most touchdown passes in a six-game span than any other quarterback in NFL history. He's on pace to throw for the most yards in a single season.

"They've been playing well all season," defensive lineman Stephen Bowen said. "People are having fun saying front-runners, getting them in the Super Bowl. When you beat teams like that, it shows what type of team you are."

Bowen himself is a game-day decision while nursing a torn posterior cruciate ligament. He says he has suffered this injury before and that it's not as bad this time around. He's now preparing for what lies ahead of him and the rest of his defense.

He's not alone and is amongst teammates who aren't ready to lay down this season.

"We are the underdog, but we have a lot of pride in this locker room and a lot of talent," defensive lineman Kedric Golston said. "We're going to put on a good show."
