Rodney Lewis, Prince George's police officer, accused of DUI

A Prince George's County Police officer has been suspended after he was charged with driving under the influence in Fairfax early Friday.

Police say Cpl. Rodney Lewis was driving an unmarked cruiser on Interstate 495 near the American Legion Memorial Bridge when he lost control and struck the jersey wall around 2:45 a.m.

Lewis was off-duty at the time of the crash. He was taken to an area hospital with serious, but non life-threatening injuries.

Lewis, a 12-year veteran of the department, was suspended with pay.
