Attempted abduction in Capitol Heights

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. (WJLA) - The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating the attempted abduction of a 12-year-old child in Capitol Heights.

On Friday, November 15 at approximately 5:15 pm, patrol officers received a call to the 200 block of Cabin Branch Road for an attempted abduction. The victim told the officers that a man had walked up to him on Wilburn Drive and asked if he wanted any candy that he had in his van. When the child tried to walk away, the man grabbed him by the jacket.

The victim was able to flee and ran down Cabin Branch Drive to Central High School, where he called police.

The suspect is described as a middle-aged black male, 6'0" tall with a skinny build and balding hair. He was wearing a black leather jacket, blue jeans and black boots. He was driving a black mini-van.

Detectives plan to revisit the neighborhood again on Saturday.
