WASHINGTON (WJLA) - On Tuesday, D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray performed a marriage ceremony for the first time, joining two Adams Morgan IT professionals in his ceremonial office as their family and friends looked on.

The wedding comes days after the New York Times asked whether D.C. is the gayest place in America, and a recent Gallup survey concluded the District to be the gayest place in the United States.

Comparing D.C. to the 50 states, the poll found that 10-percent of D.C. residents identified as gay -- twice as many as in Hawaii, which came in second, and three times the national average, which is 3.5-percent.
