George Zimmerman released on bond in alleged domestic violence case

(AP/WJLA) - George Zimmerman was back in a familiar place on Tuesday: a Florida courtroom.
But this time, he faces a felony assault charge for what allegedly happened at his new girlfriend’s house on Monday.
Both Zimmerman and his 27-year-old girlfriend, Samantha Schiebe, called 911 after an altercation:
Samantha: "He has his freaking gun, breaking all of my stuff right now. I'm doing this again? You just broke my glass table, you just broke my sunglasses, and you put your gun in my freaking face…Get out of my house! Do not push me out of my house!"
George Zimmerman: "She was throwing my stuff out and one of the bags was one of my firearms. I never pulled a firearm, I never displayed it."
Scheibe says the fight started after she told Zimmerman to leave her home. And prosecutors on Tuesday asked that he be held on the unusually high bond of nearly $50,000.
The AP reports: Scheibe "said he tried to choke her about a week ago during an altercation that was not initially reported to police, a prosecutor told a judge Tuesday during Zimmerman's first court appearance on domestic violence-related charges."
Samantha Scheibe also claimed that Zimmerman mentioned suicide because he "had nothing to lose," according to Assistant State Attorney Lymary Munoz.
"She is in fear for her safety," says Munoz. "On the day of this incident, she had indicated they were discussing breaking up."
Zimmerman’s attorney says he is doing okay despite his latest legal trouble.
"He's back in jail...obviously that's causing a certain amount of stress and anxiety," says defense attorney Daniel Megaro. "I would not characterize him as what the state's attorney said...suicidal and volatile."
And as per the AP, George Zimmerman was released from jail just hours after his first court appearance on domestic violence-related charges.
Zimmerman was seen walking out of the jail and getting into a car. His bond was set at $9,000 earlier in the day.
The judge ordered that Zimmerman not possess guns. He was also ordered to stay away from Scheibe's house and wear a monitoring device.
Zimmerman, 30, has been charged with aggravated assault, a third-degree felony. He was also charged with battery and criminal mischief, both misdemeanors.
This is Zimmerman’s fourth brush with the law since being acquitted back in July of killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. He then allegedly got into a domestic dispute in September with his estranged wife, but no charges were filed. He has also been stopped several times recently for speeding.
