Prince George's police warn of phony contractors
(WJLA) - The Prince George's County Police Department is warning residents about two suspects posing as contractors in Clinton.
The suspects allegedly use their phony identities in order to steal from their victims.
Detectives are currently investigating two separate incidents, and they believe the same suspects are involved in both cases.
On Oct. 30, police say two suspects wearing white hard hats targeted a home in the 6500 block of Horseshoe Road. The suspects told the victim that they worked for a water company and needed to check on a gas leak inside the home. When one suspect walked into the bathroom with the victim, the other suspect stole cash and a safe. The suspects were driving a dark-colored sedan.
On Nov. 6, the suspects targeted a home in the 5800 block of Kirby Road, police say. They told the victim that they were in the area conducting survey work. When the victim walked to the back of the home with one suspect, the second suspect stole a safe.
Both victims were unharmed.
Anyone with information should call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). A cash reward of up to $1,000 is offered for information that leads to an arrest and indictment of the suspects.
