(WJLA) - A store owner was shot and critically wounded Wednesday morning during a robbery, officials say.
The shooting happened at the Dollar Plus in the 1400 block of North Capitol Street. The store owner, who was shot in the neck, was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Sources say that the lone, masked gunman shot the employee after robbing him of money, credit cards and a cell phone. Despite his potentially fatal wound, the clerk was conscious and breathing when he was rushed to the hospital.
Authorities warn that the suspect, whom they gave only a vague description of, may still be armed.
