"We're a community organization and this is our way of giving back to the community," said Chris Bannon of the Knights of Columbus. "It's our tradition. We have volunteers who have been coming for 20, 25 years and they all have their specific jobs and don't get in their way."

The Arlington-based council of the Knights of Columbus will run buses Thursday to bring hungry Thanksgiving diners to their facility, where almost 600 people will sit down to eat. The Knights will also deliver nearly 1,500 meals around the region on Thanksgiving.

In addition to serving the needy on Thursday, the Knights of Columbus also invite first responders from around the area to come enjoy Thanksgiving dinner while they're away from their families working.

"It's a great thing. We love doing it. I don't think there's anybody who would disagree with that."
