(WJLA) - KXMB-TV in Bismarck, North Dakota had a guest newscaster this weekend: the star of the 2004 comedy about television news in the 1970’s, fictional anchorman Ron Burgundy.

It’s all part of the plan to get you interested in 'Anchorman 2,' and Burgundy's Dodge ads are also playing a part in marketing the sequel.

Washington’s Newseum currently has an entire exhibit on Anchorman the Movie, and star Will Ferrell even made an appearance before an invitation-only crowd of Newseum supporters.

The exhibit has brought attention and crowds to the Newseum, as well as awareness for the sequel movie – which is more satiric than the original.

In 'Anchorman 2,' Ron goes to cable news in the 1980’s and discovers that people will watch car chases.

The irony in all of this? Will Ferrell majored in sports broadcasting himself at the University of Southern California.

Comedy’s gain, TV news’ loss.
