Beacon House Falcons advance in Pop Warner Super Bowl

(WJLA) - A peewee football team from Northeast Washington has earned a spot in the Pop Warner Super Bowl in Orlando, Fla.

The Beacon House Falcons, a Division I Jr. Midget team, defeated the Temecula Grizzlies Wednesday 33-14 in the semifinals. They will now take on the Liberty City Warriors of Florida on Saturday afternoon for the title. 

The game will be broadcast on ESPN3 at 1:30 p.m.

Beacon House was 9-0 during the regular season and went on to win the Eastern Regional title, which earned them a spot at Pop Warner.

This is the fourth year Beacon House has reached the Super Bowl. They won the title in 2010, but lost the following two years. 

Beacon House is a non-profit organization that provides programs to at-risk children who live in and around the Edgewood Terrace community in Ward 5. 

The team's players are ages 11 to 13.
