District Heights officer wounded in crossfire, investigators say
(WJLA) - Investigators say a police officer who was shot during a robbery last week was shot by a fellow police officer during the incident.
Investigators from the Prince George’s County Police Department say forensic analysis shows a District Heights officer was struck from a round fired by Cpl. Kenneth Meushaw while they were stopping a suspect car on Dec. 7.
The officer was struck but not seriously injured, thanks to his bullet-proof vest.
Investigators say the officers approached the suspect’s car on opposite sides on Parkland Court. During an exchange of gunfire, the District Heights officer and Cpl. Meushaw both fired their weapons.
Cpl. Meushaw has been placed on routine administrative leave.
One suspect was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
A suspect remains on the run.
Bobby Frederick Dews, 25, Jordann Denise Walker, 22, and Charles Sander David, Jr., 35, were arrested and face several charges in connection with the armed robbery. Davis is being held without bond; Walker is being held on a $200,000 bond.
