(WJLA) - Alcohol was likely a factor in a wrong-way crash that left one person dead and two others critically injured late Saturday, according to police.

It happened just before midnight on Interstate 70 near Route 180 in Frederick.

Police say a GMC Terrain driving eastbound in the westbound lanes struck a Nissan Rogue head-on.

Both drivers were transported to Baltimore Shock Trauma. Police say the Nissan's back seat passenger was not wearing a seat belt and died on scene.

The victims have not been identified.
