Travon Bennett is accused in the Sept. 11, 2012 murder of Marckel Ross, who was shot to death as he walked to school in Capitol Heights. The Central High School student was found dead with his bookbag and school uniform.

Bennett, 20, was arrested this past February in connection with another street robbery. Law enforcement officials were able to match the gun used in that robbery to the one that killed Ross.

Jury selection was scheduled to begin Monday. It has been postponed to May 2014 because there were issues with certain witnesses making it to court.

Authorities believe that Bennett is behind a series of muggings in the Charles County area as well.

Ross was one of several Prince George's County high school students who were shot and killed during a violent stretch in early 2012.
