A 9 a.m. meeting between Shanahan, the team's coach since 2010, and Redskins owner Daniel Snyder is scheduled. During that meeting, multiple reports indicate that Shanahan will be dismissed.

Another source with ties to the organization says the move was "certain" and is expected to come Monday.

The Redskins dropped their season finale on Sunday in New York, losing 20-6 to the New York Giants. Washington finished a much-anticipated 2013 season at 3-13, the second worst record in the National Football League.

Shanahan is in the fourth season of his five-year contract. In 2012, he led the franchise to its first NFC East championship in more than a decade.
