Corey Dion Stoddard charged with 2nd degree murder in tow truck incident

WASHINGTON (WJLA) - A tow truck driver who allegedly hit and killed a man who tried to rob him Tuesday afternoon has been charged with second degree murder.
Corey Dion Stoddard, a 35-year-old Northeast Washington resident, is charged with killing 22-year-old Kevin Lewis Crouch after he was hit with the tow crane of a truck.
The incident began at about 2 p.m. Tuesday near an impound lot in the 1300 block of Kenilworth Avenue, where MPD officials say Crouch tried to rob Stoddard. The suspect claimed to have been pistol whipped by Crouch as well.
When Crouch tried to flee, police allege that Stoddard got into his truck, drove toward Crouch and hit him with the vehicle. When first responders arrived, the found the robbery suspect with serious injuries.
Crouch later died at a nearby hospital.
