(WJLA) - Two people are accused of assaulting women and then snatching their purses near the Twinbrook Metro station.

Jermaine Huntley, Jr., and Maria Engrasia Sandoval Bonilla were arrested Friday. Both were charged with three counts of robbery and assault and several counts of theft and illegal use of credit cards.

On the evening of Dec. 5, a 45-year-old woman was walking through the intersection of Lemay Road and Ridgeway Avenue when a man grabbed her from behind and knocked her to the ground, police say. The mugger then pried the purse from her hands and ran toward Twinbrook Elementary School.

Two nights later, a 23-year-old woman was assaulted three blocks away at the corner of Stanley Avenue and Matthews Drive.

Last Saturday, a 36-year-old woman walking near the corner of Lemay Road and Holland Road was attacked and robbed.

Huntley has admitted his involvement in all three crimes.
