Alexandria townhouse fire forces firefighters to medevac victim

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (WJLA) - A townhouse fire that grew from the garage to engulf multiple floors of the structure forced firefighters to transport one victim and multiple animals to hospitals early Monday morning.

The fire broke out in a townhouse at 8556 Towne Manor Court in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County and was elevated to a second alarm by firefighters. One male occupant of the home was transported via helicopter to the Washington Burn Center at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. The home's second occupant, also a man, was not transported to a hospital.

Firefighters also removed five dogs from the townhouse, four of which were transported to an animal hospital in Springfield, Va.
