Laurel townhouse catches fire for second time in 48 hours
LAUREL (WJLA) - Firefighters in Prince George's County put out a fire at townhouse along the 400 block of Compton Avenue Friday for the second time in less than 48 hours.
The fire ignited early Friday morning in the two-story townhouse, which also caught on fire Wednesday night. Firefighters said the blaze was likely caused by undiscovered embers inside the structure reigniting. The original cause of Wednesday's fire remains unknown.
The firefighters work to extinguish the fire was complicated by sub-freezing temperatures that turned water used to battle the blaze into ice. Once the fire was contained, snow crews moved in around the immediate area to deice the roads.
