Philip Harrison II charged with campaign fund theft
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - The state prosecutor says the grandson of former Del. Hattie Harrison has been charged with felony theft of campaign funds.
State Prosecutor Emmet Davitt announced Monday that Philip Harrison II has been charged with felony theft and fraudulent misappropriation of campaign funds in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court. He also is charged with a related election law violation.
Del. Harrison died last year at the age of 84.
Harrison, of Salisbury, was the former Baltimore delegate's campaign treasurer from July 2006 through November 2009. The state prosecutor says he continued to write campaign checks in 2010 to his then girlfriend and now wife after he stepped aside as treasurer.
The state prosecutor says the alleged theft was just over $17,600.
