Sen. Tom Carper says it's time for a federal property council
According to Federal News Radio, the government owns 14,000 properties it doesn't need at a cost of $190 million each year. Another 71,000 federal properties are under-used. Sen. Tom Carper (D-DE) wants to cut the fat. He's teaming with Republicans to pass a bill that helps agencies offload unnecessary real estate.
Carper discussed the effort with Government Matters.
