Western Loudoun County to be site of new Virginia state park
(WJLA) - The Commonwealth of Virginia is getting a new state park.
The Old Dominion Land Conservancy of Purcellville will donate 600 acres of land for the development of the park after making an agreement with the Commonwealth's Department of Conservation and Recreation.
The land, which skirts a portion of the Appalachian Trail, is located in an area that saw action during the Civil War.
"This Park will be a great addition to Western Loudoun's already-vibrant winery and tourism industries." Virginia Del. Dave LaRock, whose district contains the parkland, said in a statement.
