Ovechkin, Backstrom return from Sochi

(WJLA) - The Capitals' two biggest stars are dealing with Olympic scars.

“We feel for them," said Capitals forward Eric Fehr.

Alex Ovechkin was Russia's face of the Olympics and the leader of the disappointing host team.

“I feel sorry about the game," said Ovechkin, the Capitals' captain.

As ford Nicklas Backstrom, he was suspended for failing a drug test before Sweden’s gold medal game against Canada. Backstrom says he took an allergy medication, which he says he’s been taking for years. The drug is permitted under Olympic guidelines, but Backstrom was suspended for allegedly having too much of the drug in his system.

“I don’t wish (for anybody) to go through this," he said.

Meanwhile, Ovechkin also answered questions about his father, who underwent emergency heart surgery in Sochi -- news that was kept from him until his Russian team was eliminated.

Now their day job beckons, and Ovechkin and Backstrom must both move on.
