(WJLA) - Police are searching for a suspect in a shooting in Seat Pleasant and investigating what the shooting has to do with a later police-involved shooting.

The incident unfolded around 7:30 p.m. Friday when 911 calls of a shooting came from a neighborhood near Hill Oaks and Hill roads. A Prince George's County officer responded and noticed a Mitsubishi Galant speeding down Hill Oaks Road.

When the officer stopped the suspicious car, the driver got out. Police said the driver was acting unusual and holding something in his hand that the officer couldn't identify.

Police say the officer shot at the driver, but did not strike him.

The officer then found a passenger in the car suffering from gunshot wounds suffered earlier that night. According to Lt. Bill Alexander of Prince George's County police, the passenger was shot in an area neighborhood. The passenger was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The surrounding area was roped off while police searched for the shooting suspect.
