ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WJLA) - Alexandria Police officers were back out in the Delray neighborhood Thursday where a beloved music teacher was shot and killed in her doorway two weeks ago.

They're looking for any leads in the case that has gripped the Alexandria neighborhood and frustrated both residents and officers.

Alexandria police spoke with everyone passing by - drivers, runners, walkers - all just blocks from the crime scene. They were asking for any bit of information about that day the murder happened, and distributing a sketch of the suspect.

Alexandria music teacher Ruthanne Lodato was shot and killed by an unknown man who knocked on her door two weeks ago. Lodato's elderly mother's caretaker was also injured.

"Our department is working around the clock," said Chrystal Nosal, Alexandria Police spokesperson. "This is a top priority."

The question has been asked repeatedly as to whether this case is in anyway connected to the 2003 murder of Nancy Dunning, and the murder of transportation official Ron Kirby last November. Both took place in Alexandria and are both unsolved. Police say they have no concrete evidence linking any of these crimes.
