Police say Dario Johnathan Matson, 25, broke into the victim's apartment in the 200 block of S. Market Street on Feb. 26 and raped a female occupant. Police say Matson then strangled the victim and threatened her with a knife.

The victim reported the rape after going to Frederick Memorial Hospital. Police say her injuries included bite marks and cuts.

After raping the victim, authorities say Matson stole several items from the victim's apartment.

Investigators say Matson and the victim had previously lived in separate apartments within the same apartment building.

Matson was arrested Thursday and faces several charges of rape, sex offense, and assault.
