Jesse Jones, 83, missing in D.C.

(WJLA) - Police in the District are asking for the public's help in finding a missing elderly man.

Jesse Jones, 83, reportedly walked away from The Residences at Thomas Circle in the 1000 block of 5th Street NW on Tuesday. He was last seen around 3 p.m. at Busboys & Poets at 5th and K streets NW. Police say he suffers from dementia and high blood pressure and is in need of medication. 

Jones is the former Chief Warden of the District of Columbia Jail and was one of the first African American officials in Mayor Walter Washington's D.C. Department of Corrections.

Jones is described as a 5'7 black man with brown eyes, a bald head, and a dark complexion. Police say he was wearing a navy blue windbreaker, navy blue pants, glasses, and a black fedora.

Anyone with information on Jones' whereabouts should call police.
