ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - A panel of Maryland lawmakers has voted to keep a phased-in minimum wage increase statewide.

The House Economic Matters Committee voted Monday to reject a two-tiered proposal that would have raised the minimum wage less in smaller counties in the state.

That keeps a proposed phase-in from $7.25 an hour to $10.10 by 2016 statewide.

The panel also voted to take out a proposal that would have indexed future increases to adjust for inflation.

The committee is working toward voting on the measure Monday to send the bill to the House of Delegates.
